Development of a storage and refining unit

  • Customer: Raffinerie Tirlemontoise

Date of completion:

May 2024

With a view to expanding its operations and increasing its market flexibility, Raffinerie Tirlemontoise has opted to develop a new facility dedicated to the storage and refining of cane sugar. This solution enables the company to offset fluctuations in beet sugar production through a controlled supply of imported sugar.

To achieve this objective, the project initially involved refurbishing an existing building to create two storage units. Extensive civil engineering work was carried out to adapt the structure and accommodate the installation of the planned equipment.

Subsequently, a complete handling line was installed. This system supplies the facility with sugar from a truck unloading area and also conveys the product to the refining unit. The entire setup ensures a continuous and controlled flow, from the receipt of the sugar through to its processing.

Furthermore, given the explosive properties of sugar, a dust collection system with a total capacity of 50,000 m³ per hour has been incorporated.

Throughout the project, our team provided rigorous on-site supervision, ensuring that the work complied with technical specifications and the required quality standards.

Today, the facility can store up to 3,500 tonnes of sugar per day and process approximately 2,000 tonnes, providing Raffinerie Tirlemontoise with a robust and flexible solution, perfectly tailored to its production requirements.
