Design of an industrial fermenter

  • Customer : Biowanze

Date of completion:

October 2025

As part of an initiative to increase its beer production capacity, the company BIOWANZE launched a project to develop a new 4,000 m³ fermenter. Our firm provided the complete engineering for this equipment, from the initial studies through to the oversight of its construction.

The project began with the construction of the foundations for the new fermenter. These include supporting piles and a circular base foundation, incorporating various openings and recesses required for the process and associated equipment.

To improve accessibility within the containment area, a new access point has been created using concrete ramps, allowing for the movement of medium-sized machinery and facilitating operation and maintenance activities.

Furthermore, a new 21-meter-long connecting walkway has been installed between the roof of the existing fermenter and that of the new piece of equipment. This walkway rests on a dedicated support structure, designed to ensure that no additional loads are transferred to the existing tank.

Finally, various peripheral structures were studied and incorporated to improve accessibility within the fermentation area and to provide support for the new piping. All interconnecting pipe networks—ranging from DN25 to DN600—as well as their supports, were subjected to a detailed study.

Throughout the project, our engineers closely monitored the work, ensuring that it complied with the client’s technical requirements and quality standards.
