New vertical diffusion
- Customer : Raffinerie Tirlemontoise
Date of completion:
June 2023
We were approached by the company Raffinerie Tirlemontoise to replace two horizontal diffusions with a vertical diffusion.
Our support began with monitoring the civil engineering work, including checking the detailed plans. Then we supervised the assembly of the equipment and piping, checking the quality and design of the welds.
At the customer’s request, calculations were carried out and two important modifications were studied in detail. First, we proposed a reduction in the height of the building with a new single-pitched roof. Second, we designed a support structure for two Archimedean screws, each 1,250 mm in diameter and 36.5 m long.
These screws transfer the wet pulps to the 9 existing presses. The framework is planned to double the transfer line during a future construction of a second vertical diffusion. Finally, the structure, with a total height of 24 m, has two levels of 40 m and 42 m in length, for a width of 4.8 m.
Throughout the project, our team carries out regular monitoring of the work on site, thus making it possible to verify the compliance of the work with the plans and technical standards in force.
